The Beginning of the Viticulture of the Douro Region
The pair of wine, this region's fertile land has other species of agriculture, on which stand the decayed olives, high quality olive oil that they produce, and the almond, by the spectacle of flowering trees that provide in the months of February and March, and by the importance of the typical sweets of almond. Pastoralism is an activity which is current in some areas, resulting in many gastronomic dishes, produced in the traditional way. The veal and lamb roasts are the main dishes of the region but those passing through cannot miss to taste the sausages, artisanal cheeses and regional sweets.

memories of the past, etched in stone or built with the most varied forms. The
romans, arabs, visigoths, suevi, all have left traces scattered through the
lands of the Douro, and that the first were the men from this period. Each era
in history has left evidence of its existence, that have survived the passing

the wine industry, the nobles and the burghers began to settle in the region,
